381,258. Printers' composing- appliances. TODD, R. C., 28, Trinity Avenue, Lenton, Nottingham. July 20, No. 1931, 20646. [Class 100 (iii).] Chases; quoins; side and foot sticks.-A device for quickly locking up matter in a chase comprises two key-bars c each carrying a number of keys or quoins d of known form, which co-operate with an equal number of similar keys or quoins b, secured to the chase sides. The key-bars slide in dovetailed grooves in the side and foot sticks e, f and either keybar can be operated by the insertion of a turnkey in any one of the tracts between opposed keys. The side and foot sticks have pinends, which are guided in grooves in the chase sides, one pin-end of the foot stick being guided in a groove in the side stick. The grooves open out on the tops of the chase sides and of the side stick, and are covered by spring clips l.
