Abstract
381,016. Stairs. LEYLAND & BIRMINGHAM RUBBER CO., Ltd. and SUMMERFIELD, G. C., Grand Buildings, Trafalgar Square, London. Dec. 9, 1931, No. 34193. [Class 20 (iv).] A detachable and renewable nosing for a stair tread is formed as a complete unit and comprises a rigid and preferably solid member B and a covering C, formed of rubber or like material, the nosing being secured in position by screws C3. The covering C comprises a part C<1>, to cover the whole or only part of the face B<1> of the member B, which is clamped between the face and the edge of the stair tread, and a flap-like portion C2 which is secured to the member B by adhesive. In a modification, Fig. 3, the covering C is formed with an integral strip D adapted to cover the tread wholly or partially, and the part C<1> is formed with an integral extension D<2> to cover wholly or partially the step riser. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the angle between the tread and the riser is recessed to give additional support to the detachable nosing.
