Abstract
380,652. Electric clocks. ELEKTROZEIT AKT.-GES., 136, Mainzerlandstrasse, Frankfort-on-Main, Germany.-(Assignees of Schonberg, G. ; 17, Munstererstrasse, H÷chst-on-Main, Germany.) Nov. 25, 1931, No. 32679. Convention date, Nov. 25, 1930. [Class 139.] Synchronizing.-In a synchronizing clock system, the operating line from the master Z to the self-contained secondaries R1, R3 is divided into sections L1, L2, L3, the secondaries at the dividing points R2, R4 being provided with switches and local batteries and acting as intermediate control clocks, so that the system is synchronized section by section, each clock R2, R4 synchronizing the following section. Means are provided at the master for automatically recording the synchronizations. Contacts z1, K, K1 close about every fourth minute and at the secondary R1 a contact r11 closes just before the synchronizing time. Contacts r11, r21, r31, r41 are closed at different times once a day. This gives a circuit B, z2, z1, relay R, L1, w1, r12, r11 and earth, so that relay R closes contact r to energize the recording magnet Rg from battery LB. At the same time a holding relay H closes contacts h to short-circuit relay R, de-energizing the recording magnet Rg. The clocks such as R1 are adjusted to gain slightly, so that immediately before synchronization, contact r12 is lowered to energize a relay R1 which stops the clock. At the synchronization moment, contact z2 is opened at the master, relay R1 is de-energized and the secondary clock restarts on time ; contacts r12, r11 returning to the positions shown. The intermediate control clock at the junction of sections L1, L2 is similarly synchronized. In addition, a contact K at clock R2 is closed about thirty seconds before the synchronizing moment and opened exactly at that moment to pass the synchronizing circuit on to section L2 (clock R3). This also energizes a relay U which connects line L1 to earth so that relays R and Rg are again energized. Similarly a contact K1 at the second intermediate control clock R4 extends the synchronization on to the third section L3.
