Abstract

380,379. Packing foodstuffs. LOEBEN, I., 5, Rosenhagen, Brunswick, Germany. March 22, 1932, No. 8442. [Class 94 (i).] Foodstuffs, confectionery, &c. are packed by enclosing in a wrapper and immersing the packet for a short time in molten paraffin or other animal, vegetable, or mineral wax, and immediately chilling in ice-cold water. The wrapping may be of metal-foil and crepe tissue paper, or may comprise a carton, sealed where necessary with paper strips. Carnauba wax, Japan wax, pulverized burnt magnesia, or asbestos powder may be added to the wax. Dyes may also be added, and a second coating of wax or lacquer may be superposed to give the packet the appearance of wood, marble, porcelain or bronze.
