Abstract
380,191. Railway &c. switch points. WILLIAMS, Ltd., H. and WILLIAMS, O. R., Railway Appliances Works, Darling- ton. July 8, 1931, Nos. 19664 and 2310S. [Class 104 (i).] The stretcher bar 10 for the tongues 3 of switch points is mounted on antifriction rollers 13, preferably of the travelling type described in Specification 325,977, [Class 104 (i). Railway and tramway crossings &c.], and is provided at each end with a recess 17, preferably of arcuate form, whereby the tongues 3 are normally held clear of the slide surfaces 7 of the chairs 5 but are lowered into contact therewith when in the home position by interengagement of the rollers 13 and recesses 17. Correct alignment of the travelling rollers 13 may be maintained by forming the recess with one edge 19 lower than the other as by forming the recess in one end of a cut-away portion 25 ; and by providing also a shoulder 21 adjustable in position or else suitably positioning the other end of the cut-away portion. By these means the rollers are brought into correct alignment each time the stretcher bar reaches one or other of its extreme positions.
