Abstract

379,703. Threading loom healds, reeds, &c. BISSIG, H., Uster, near Zurich, Switzerland.-(Assignee of Samitz, 0. ; Ebensee, Austria.) May 30, 1931, No. 15901. Convention date, May 31, 1930. [Class 142 (ii).] Relates to means for operating and guiding the long flexible needle 25, shown in plan view in Fig. 2, which is used for drawing warp threads through loom healds, reeds and warp stop-motion hooks. This needle is covered by an elastic steel band 48, which is wound up with it on a disc 45 and when the needle unwinds to make its forward movement is wound on a second disc 49. The needle lies in a groove 47, Fig. 3, in the disc 45, which is positively rotated by bevel and rack gearing described to wind up the drawing-in needle and the guiding band. The disc 49, which at this time can run idly, is turned by the pull of the band 48. Conversely the disc 49 is positively rotated in the direction of the arrow V to wind up the band 48, which rotates the disc 45, and moves the needle 25 forwards. Immediately after leaving the band, the needle is guided by an enclosed straight guide 51, and afterwards by a guide member 52 situated in front of the reed with a slot 521 open at the top and by guides 53 situated in front of each of the heald shafts, the heald eyes of which are to be threaded, and the warp stop motion hooks arranged in rows on one or more rails. Each guide 53 has a flared orifice and a lateral slot through which, on the return stroke of the drawing-in needle, the drawn-in warp thread can pass laterally. The guide member 52 is moved up and down by cam-controlled lever mechanism, its downward movement occurring on the return stroke of the drawing-in needle, springs 56 situated above the slot 52<1>, being displaced by the needle. When the forward member 52 is raised before the forward stroke of the needle 25, the obliquely disposed springs 56 engage the warp thread previously drawn in and displace it out of the path of the needle 25. A fixed slotted guide 54 is also used. In a modification, the funnel guides are substituted by fixed guiding-members having guiding- slots completely open at one side to facilitate the escape of the drawn-in warp threads. These slots are closed, however, during the forward movement of the drawing-in needle by slides movable thereon. Leaf springs on the slides glide in vertical grooves in the fixed members and lift and push aside warp threads remaining in the guide.
