379,462. Lawn-mowers. FLEMING, J. M., Grangehurst, Lynton Park, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, and BARNES, W. H., 9, Badminton Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester. July 11, 1931, No. 19969. [Class 6 (ii).] Lawn-mowers having side driving wheels are provided with side or cheek plates of pressed steel having central studs to carry the wheels, and with lever brackets of pressed steel for carrying the rotary cutter, the lever brackets being pivoted on the wheel-carrying studs or on studs at or near the centres of the side-plates so as to be adjustable without interfering with the meshing of the driving gear. The studs B carrying the wheels C may be bolted or welded on the side-plates A, which are each provided with an opening a for the cutter spindle to pass through, apertures a<1>, b to receive cross stays, a slot a<2> for a bolt a<4> for securing the lever bracket D, holes g for bolts for securing the ledger blade G, a hole b<4> for receiving a handle stop, and a hole h for the bolt securing the rear roller bracket H. Each lever bracket D has a flanged aperture d for the cutter spindle e, a hole d<1> to fit over the stud B, a slot b<1> for a cross stay, and a hole d<2> for the bolt a<4> by which it is adjustably secured inside or outside the sideplate A. A housing or bearing F for the journal of the spindle e is welded around the aperture d. The rotary cutter may be withdrawn from the machine after removal of the wheels C, pinions c, studs B, bolts a4, and brackets D.
