Abstract

226,458. Sarel, W. G. M. Aug. 25. 1924. Rollers, land; rotary-tool machines; lifting tool frames manually.-Spiked rollers for piercing turf for ventilation and drainage purposes are combined with lawn rolling and mowing-machines, levers being provided for raising them out of action. The motor machine shown comprises two side plates or castings 1 carrying a motor 2. a mower 3, and a roller 4. A spiked roller 7 of the kind described in Specification 198,241 is mounted in arms 6 pivoted on the plates 1. It is weighted by weights 11 mounted on a spindle 10 carried by arms 9 extending upwardly from the arms 6. The roller 7 is lifted by means of a lever 12 pivoted on the handles 8 and provided with a locking-device 14. In a modification, the roller 7 is shorter than the roller 4, the arms 6 and handles 8 being connected to a transverse bar- In another arrangement in which the handles are dispensed with and a seat provided for the driver, the lifting-lever is pivoted on an extension of the frame and is operated by foot or hand. The mowing-apparatus may be dispensed with.
