Abstract

379,364. Directive wireless signalling. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Marconi House, Strand, and WELLS, N., 32, Richmond Park Road, Sheen, both in London. May 29, 1931, No. 15768. [Class 40 (v).] A high-frequency feeder system which is substantially non-radiating comprises three conductors at a common height above earth, the two outer conductors o being symmetrically disposed about a central current-carrying insulated conductor C. The supports for the system comprise a conducting upright U driven into the earth and carrying a conducting transverse member T, Fig. 1, with slotted ends SE. The central conductor is supported by an insulator I and the outer conductors by cleats CL adjustable in the slots SE. In a broadside aerial array system, vertical aerials A, Fig. 2, arranged half a wave-length apart are connected in pairs by " tails TL to points one wave-length apart on the central wire C of the feeder system which in turn is fed at its centre point by a similar feeder system leading to the high-frequency source or receiver. The tails TL may alternatively be connected to a single wire fed from the feeder system.
