Abstract

379,323. Seats. THURGOOD, W. L., Park Road, Ware, Hertfordshire. April 25, 1931, No. 12297. [Class 52 (ii).] In a vehicle seat in which the back of the seat moves in guides to allow movement of the back during jolting on uneven roads, the rear edge of the top portion of the seat bottom A is hinged to the back rest B. The bottom A of the seat comprises springs A<1> supporting a light metal frame A<2> with mesh wire (not shown), and metal strips D are bent into the form of loops around the rear bar of the frame A<2> and attached to the lower end of the frame B<1> which is slidably mounted in guides E or F secured vertically on the back rest B. The whole frame C<3> is attached to a platform C<2> and the back portion covered with ply-wood and the legs Cx bolted to the floor through flanges C<1>.
