Abstract

379,288. Air cushions. MOSELEY & SONS, Ltd., D., BERMINGHAM, G. E. and RANDALL, A. H. C., Chapel Field Works, Ardwick, Manchester. May 16, 1931, No. 14524. [Class 52 (iv).] In an air cushion &c. having a folded tubular container, instability is reduced and the number of folds in a given width increased by arranging the folds in two or more layers. A cushion is described having two superposed endless tubes 6, 7 folded in the manner described in Specification 245,514, [Class 52 (iv), Upholstery &c.], and surrounded on three sides by a butt-ended tube 8. Alternatively the tubes 6, 7 may be butt-ended and may be in one piece. Additional layers of tubing may be provided both at the border and middle part of the cushion, and the border may be of greater, equal, or less thickness than the middle part. The tubes are preferably inflated by separated valves 6a, 7a, 8a, but restricted communication between the tubes may be provided. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 12020/89, [Class 52, Furniture &c.].
