Abstract
378,414. Air cushions. MELLANO, A. V., 6, Queen's Drive, Thames Ditton, Surrey. May 5, 1931, No. 13304. [Class 52 (iv).] The top and bottom sheets A, B of an air cushion are secured together at a number of spaced positions, each securing or connecting point having associated therewith an internal or external layer or thickened portion C reinforcing the connection. The connection of the sheets may be direct, or flat spacers D can be used; rubber or metal rivets, or metal bolts, may also be provided. In the case of rubber rivets these may have large heads obviating the need for additional reinforcement. The peripheral edge of the cushion has a reinforcing strip over its seam and there may be a separate peripheral chamber K which may be separately inflated.
