Abstract

414,722. Hand - irons. ENTWISLE, J., St. Albans, Broadway, Letchworth, Hertfordshire. Feb. 3, 1933, No. 3393. [Class 138 (ii).] A hand grip or cover for the handles of electric irons comprises an external layer of crepe rubber and an inner layer or filling of sponge rubber. As shown, the grip comprises an inner tube 1 of crepe rubber, an intermediate layer or filling 2 of sponge rubber extending wholly or partly around the grip, and an outer tube 3 of crepe rubber. The tubes 1, 3 extend beyond the layer 2, and are joined together at 4, 5 to prevent access of water to the sponge rubber. A disc 6 of crepe rubber closes one end. The tubes 1, 3 are made from flat sheets, the longitudinal seams of the tubes so formed being arranged on opposite sides of the grip. The grip may be reinforced by one or more plies of canvas.
