W.; c/o Cutler- Hammer, Inc., 12th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, U.S.A.) Oct 27, 1931, No. 29763. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1930. [Class 38 (iii).] Armature control. -Closure of switch 3 causes switch 1 to close, its winding being supplied through impedance r in parallel with armature A and winding 2a. As the motor accelerates, the current in winding 2a decreases, reverses, and increases in the opposite direction to a value sufficient to close switch 2 and exclude starting resistance R. Opening of switch 3 causes opening of switch 1 and closing down of the motor with gradual decrease of current in winding 2a to zero. It can be arranged that if switch 3 is reclosed before the motor has slowed down sufficiently, the switch 1 is not reclosed as its winding can only receive current through the impedance r. When however the motor has slowed down sufficiently the current in winding 2a can reverse and augment that through the impedance r to effect reclosure of switch 1.
