378,231. Rolling and cutting dough. ENERGEN FOODS CO., Ltd., Energen Works, Bridge Road, Willesden, London, and POULTNEY, S. V., Pen-y-bryn, West Drive, Harrow Weald, Middlesex. Sept. 14, 1931, No. 25741. [Class 87 (ii).] In a machine for moulding lumps of dough into cylindrical shape and cutting the cylinders intc slices, a revolving drum co-operates with stationary transverselyconvex moulding members which are displaceably and resiliently mounted, are short in proportion to the circumference of the drum, are pro. vided with side walls to form enclosed moulding. spaces, and carry a plurality of slicing members with acute-angled blades acting perpendicularly to the axis of the drum, the latter being provided with circumferential grooves which receive the side walls and the tips of the blades. In the illustrated form a revoluble drum 10 and one or more stationary moulding elements 17 form the cylindrical lump of dough and the blades 22 cut it into slices. The side walls 18 of the moulding elements fit in grooves 30 in the drum and the front end 21 is given a transverse convexity to spread the dough laterally. The blades 22 also fit in grooves 31 in the drum and have their cutting edges arranged at an acute angle thereto. The elements 17 are mounted resiliently by means of pins 25 which slide in holes in a bridge plate 15 and are controlled by springs 27.
