Abstract

378,221. Hinges. VAUGHAN, E., Field House, Clent, near Stourbridge, Worcestershire. Aug. 29, 1931, No. 24328. [Class 65 (ii).] A hinge joint for metal angle-bars comprises hinge plates fixed to one abutting pair of flanges or webs and reinforcing abutment plates fixed to the other abutting pair of flanges or webs, the abutment plates having extensions or lugs adapted to receive a fastening bolt or the like. The ends of the two anglebars a, b abut together, and are connected by a hinge j having its leaves fixed on the outside of one limb of the angles. Inside the other limb of the angles are riveted plates e, f, having abutting edges level with the ends of the bars and having extensions as shown, cranked slightly in opposite directions so that their ends overlap and apertured to receive a fastening bolt which locks the joint in its extended position.
