Abstract

377,926. Gas mask harness. SOC. ITALIANA PIRELLI, 21, Via Fabio Filzi, Milan, Italy. March 31, 1932, No. 9330. Convention date, April 22, 1931. [Class 81 (ii).] Gas mask harness comprises in one integral piece of elastic sheet material, for example rubber, a head pad 1 and radiating head straps 2 leading to the edge of the mask. The forward ends of the straps may be reinforced by a non-elastic material, for instance, fabric. The straps may be permanently attached to the mask, as by sewing, or may be adjustably connected by eyelets or buckles, in which case non-elastic bands may be inserted between the straps and mask. The non-elastic band passing over the top of the head should be somewhat short. The head-straps may be reinforced by ribs of rubber 3 integral therewith. The harness may be cut from a sheet of prevulcanized rubber, or a blank may be cut from a sheet of partially vulcanized rubber, and vulcanized with the reinforcing strips of fabric in the ends of the bead straps. Hot or cold vulcanizing may be employed.
