Abstract

377,199. Mixing &c. apparatus. GARDNER, C. E., of Gardner & Sons (Gloucester), Ltd., Bristol Road, Gloucester. April 20, 1931, Nos. 11645 and 30919. [Class 86.] Pulverulent, granular, &c. materials are mixed and sprayed, or impregnated, by being circulated continuously upwards at the centre and periphery of a container, and downwards between these zones to enable the mass to be repeatedly sprayed or impregnated. The apparatus comprises a container a having a conical bottom e and fitted with upper charging doors and a discharge gate g. A central shaft n is fitted with a tapering worm o and with arms r on which is mounted a helical blade s. The shaft is rotated by bevel gearing as shown, and the spray is supplied from nozzles 11 on a ring 9 supplied from a vessel 13 by compressed air led thereto from a compressor 7. In a modification, the shaft is hollow and perforated for the supply of steam or other fluid under pressure.
