Abstract
In the production of steel or iron containing copper and phosphorus the phosphorus content is obtained wholly or partly by means of reducing agents such as aluminium, silico-aluminium, ferrosilicon, &c. which reduce the phosphorus from the slag and simultaneously deoxidize the slag and return manganese into the metal. Thus in the Bessemer converter if the process is interrupted when the phosphorus content is 0,135 per cent it may be raised to 0,226 per cent by the addition of ferromanganese and silico-aluminium.
