Abstract

376,962. Flexible tubular connections. WILLMOTT, A. R., 68, St. Andrews Road, Coulsdon, Surrey. July 27, 1931, No. 21401. [Classes 99 (i) and 99 (ii).] A flexible tubular connection for use with gas irons &c. comprises an outer tube 11 of rubber &c., internal reinforcement in the form of a closely-wound wire helix 12 or a flexible metallic tube of such diameter that it can be slidden freely into the outer tube, and metal connectors 13 secured at each end of the connection and provided one with an internally screwed bore 14 and the other with an externally threaded hollow nipple 15. Each connector comprises a rigid inner sleeve 17, which is disposed between the outer tube and the reinforcement, and an outer sleeve 16, the inner end 21 of the latter, which may be formed of reduced thickness or with slots, being clenched inwardly as shown to clamp the tube 1-1 between the inner ends of the two sleeves and . against an internal shoulder 22 in the outer sleeve. The inner sleeve 1'7 is retained in position on the helix 12 by deforming it at two diametrically opposite places 18 ; alternatively it is internally threaded, to receive the helix. The connection may also be provided with external reinforcement.
