Abstract

376,623. Railway buffers. BUCKHAN, F., Bridge Wharf, Chalk Farm Road, London. Dec. 1, 1931, No. 33291. [Class 104 (ii).] In a buffer stop of the kind adapted to slide on the ballast, the struts 13 supporting the buffer block 12 are connected to auxiliary rails slidably clamped to a mat of sleepers 19 and to coupled pairs of sleepers 20. When the rails are moved by impact on the block 12, brackets 25 thereon move the sleepers. At the rear end, rails or sleepers 28 are embedded in the ballast to support the sliding mat 19 and prevent it from digging into the ballast.
