Abstract

356,630. Railway buffers. BUCKHAM, F., Bridge Wharf Works, Chalk Farm Road, Camden Town, London. Jan. 21, 1931, No. 2037. [Class 104 (ii).] A buffer block 10 is mounted on trusses 13 connected by screws 20 to bars 19 movable in the spaces between the running rails 16 and their chairs 21 and/or the auxiliary rails 15 and their chairs. The bars are pressed against the rails by set screws 22. The rails 15 are connected to the sleepers by clamps 23 and carry brackets 24 which engage the sleepers when the buffer moves, and drag them over the ballast. The sleepers may be separated by wooden &c. blocks 25 so as to move simultaneously and in parallelism. Alternatively, they may be arranged to move successively by a suitable arrangement of the brackets 24.
