Abstract
376,105. Coin-freed telephone apparatus. TELEPHON-APPARAT-FABRIK E. ZWIETUSCH & CO., GES., 6, Salzufer, Charlottenburg, Berlin. Sept. 30, 1931, No. 27267. Convention date, Oct. 11, 1930. [Class 27.] Coin action, with stationary coin forming abutment. -At a telephone prepayment substation, when the called party replies a mechanical test is made for the presence of a coin, and if no coin has been inserted the talking circuit is disabled until the receiver is replaced. Upon the reply of the called party the collecting magnet 15 energizes momentarily and attracts its armature 12 which is linked by a spring 16-to a pivoted arm 17. If the coin 7 is resting in the pocket 8, the movement of the arm 17 is limited by the engagement of the pin 13 therewith, but if no coin is present, the pin 13 penetrates an aperture 19 and the arm 17 operates contact-springs MF which are then locked by a lever 4 until the receiver is replaced, when a stop 3 on the switchhook 1 strikes the end of the lever 4. The hooked end 24 of the armature 12 falls behind the edge of the pocket 8, so that when the armature is restored the pocket is tilted about its pivot 9 to cash in the coin. If no reply is received from the called party the coin is discharged into the refunding shoot when the receiver is replaced by the removal of a stop 6 on the switchhook 1. A modification is referred to in which the energization of the collecting magnet unlocks a lever loaded by the weight of the coin to allow the operation of contact springs.
