Abstract

470,891. Substation equipment. TELEPHON-APPARAT-FABRIK E. ZWIETUSCH & CO. GES. Oct. 29, 1936, No. 29450. Convention date, March] 14. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XVIII] In a telephone paystation, the tendered coin is held in suspense during the call, and is refunded at the expiration of a delay period following replacement of the receiver unless, during that period, a magnet, energized by replacement of the receiver, is de-energized by the operation of metering equipment in the case of a chargeable call. As shown, a coin passed down a shoot 1 is held by a stop 3 on a lever 5 pivoted at 4, and operates contacts m<1>, m<2> respectively removing a short-circuit over dial contacts nsi, and preparing the circuit of the refund magnet KM, which latter is, however, at first broken at contacts v. When the receiver is removed, a pin 13 on the hook HU engages over a shoulder 16 on a bar 15 supported by a fixed pin 20 working in a slot 19, and actuated by tension springs 17, 18. Upon replacing the receiver, the pin 13 depresses the bar 15, which, after a fixed pin 23 has passed over a guide 24, is turned clockwise by the spring 18 to disengage the pin 13, so that it now commences to return upwardly under the action of the spring 17 and control of a pump 22. During this upward movement, the pin 23 bears against a second guide 26 on the bar 1 and a pin 25 on the bar engages a lower cam part 9 on the lever 5 to withdraw the stop 3 and insert a lower stop 6 to which the corn falls. In this position, the coin is also supported by further stops 10 and 11 operated by the magnet KM, which is now energized through holding contacts k, m in parallel with the coin contacts m<2>, and the contacts v. If the call is successful, contacts x, operated by the metering mechanism at the exchange, are at this stage opened, so that the magnet KM is de-energized and the stop 10 withdrawn to release the coin into the casbing-in shoot 8. If the call is unsuccessful, the contacts x remain closed and the magnet KM remains energized, so that, when the bar 15 approaches its uppermost position and engages an upper cam part 9 on the lever 5 to withdraw the stop 6, the coin is released into the cashing-out shoot 7, the contacts v opening immediately after as the bar 15 reaches its uppermost position.
