376,013. Preventing corrosion. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., 153, Regent Street, London.-(Assignees of Platen-Munters Refrigerating System Aktiebolag; 2, Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm.) July 8, 1931, No. 19656. Convention date, July 8, 1930. [Class 123 (i).] Hermetically sealed apparatus containing a circulating liquid in which is dissolved a corrosion-preventing substance is provided with a reserve of the substance which passes automatically, e.g. by diffusion, into the liquid as the substance dissolved therein dissociates. As applied to an absorption refrigerating apparatus of the continuously-acting type using, e.g. ammonia and water as the refrigerant and the absorbent respectively, a reserve of the substance, e.g. sodium or potassium chromate or bichromate, is stored in a container 12 connected by a tube 23 to the refrigerant liquid pipe 18 between the condenser 4 and the evaporator 6. A centrally bored or pervious plug may be inserted in the tube 23 to reduce the rate of diffusion. In a modification, the container is connected to the bottom of the absorber 7.
