375,582. Book-stitching machines. POLLAK, J. E., 20, Holborn, London.- (Brehmer Geb. ; Plagwitz, Leipsic, Germany.) July 21, 1931, No. 20823. [Classes 89 (iii) and 112.1 Holding members 18 are provided on the arms 10 of a rotary, rise and fall sheet carrier or spider of an automatic book-stitching machine and are adapted to be moved away from the arm so as to permit a sheet to be freely placed on it and are then returned to retain the sheets in position during movement of the carrier. The members 18 may be of wire pivoted to the hub 11 on which the arms 10 are mounted and are pressed into engagement with the arms 10 by springs 19. A fixed wedge-shaped member 20 carried on the machine frame above the path of travel of the arms 10 engages between an arm 10 and its sheet-holding member 18 when in the raised stationary sheet-receiving position to permit the sheet to be placed over the arm.
