Abstract

374,689. Turbines. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. Aug. 12, 1931, No. 22820. Convention date, Oct. 20, 1930. [Class 110 (iii).] The nozzle boxes of a steam or gas turbine are rigidly fixed to the casing at their nozzle side while at their inlet side they are connected so as to be movable relatively to the casing or are fixed in a flexibly yielding manner so that the nozzles 5 and the blades of the turbine wheel 1 remain in register in spite of changes due to temperature variations. The nozzle box 4 is formed at the nozzle end 5 with a cylindrical extension 10 which has a ridge to engage a groove 6 in the turbine casing 2, or vice versa, and is secured thereto by screws 8 ; the extension 10 is of a length to permit the insertion of the screws 8 without obstruction by the inlet pipe flange. The nozzle box shown in Fig. 4 is made flexibly yielding at the region 9 on its inlet side.
