Abstract

372,720. Coloured photographs. PROJECTOR AKT.-GES., 17, Lowenstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. Feb. 14, 1931, No. 4980/32. Convention date, Feb. 14, 1930, Divided on 372,424. [Class 98 (ii).] A process of colouring a differentially hardened and swelled colloid relief image consists in first colouring the tops of the relief corresponding to the unexposed parts, with a colouring matter that will remain on the surface and not penetrate into the colloid (such as albumen azure dyes)., and then further colouring the image with a colour solution that will penetrate the unhardened parts (for example pinatype dyes), and/or containing mordant dyes which will colour the hardened parts. The relief may be reduced after the first colouring by exposing it to dry heat. Chemicals such as calcium chloride may be added to the bath used for producing the initial relief, in order to increase the absorption power of the unhardened colloid. Alcohols may be added to the moistening bath used to produce the relief in order to obtain a rapid surface drying.
