Abstract

371,150. Goggles. MAUDSLEY, R. T., Witton Bank, Quinton, Birmingham, and MALLARD, G. E., Vicarage Road, Langley, near Birmingham. April 1, 1931, No. 9849. [Class 97 (i).] To enable goggles to be ventilated without allowing solid or liquid particles to enter, each of the tubuler eyepieces in which the glasses are fitted is provided with a circumferentially extending air passage or succession of passages in its wall near the inner surface of the glass, and with an annular baffle plate, or plates, covering the passages without impeding the flow of air through them. The glass 6 is clamped between a flange 5 on the eyepiece 4 and a flange 8 on a ring 7 which is secured to the eyepiece by welding, screwing, &c. The eyepiece is formed with circumferentially extending air passages 9, and the ring 7 extends rearwardly to form an annular baffle 10 which covers the passages. A forwardly extending baffle 11 may also be provided on a ring 12 secured to the eyepiece 4. The eyepieces are mounted in a face mask 2 with their rear ends flush therewith.
