370,595. Attaching brooches, medals, &c. to wearing-apparel safety-pins &c. GAUNT, C. F., Warstone Parade Works, Birmingham. March 6, 1931, No. 6975. [Class 43.] An attachment or suspension device for brooches, medals and the like is constructed from a metal blank, Fig. 5, bent to form two overlapping jaws 6, 7 of substantially equal size and between which a medal ribbon 2, Fig. 2, or other decoration may be gripped, the blank having lugs 9, 10 integral with the front portion 7, but bent out of the plane thereof so as to constitute a catch 11 and a hinge 12 for a securing pin 8. A medal 4 may be secured to the ribbon by a suspension bar 3 formed with two arms 17, 18 for engaging the ribbon and an integral eye or loop 16 adapted to engage an aperture 19 in the medal. The lugs 9, 10 are adapted to be bent rearwardly to overlap the edge of the portion 6. The pin is bent to engage the hinge 12 and its tail is bent in to engage the back portion 6. The suspension bar may be made of wire or strip material. The arms 17, 18 may abut or overlap. The front 7 may be engraved or otherwise decorated and the pin fitting may be used alone as a brooch or for gripping any decoration.
