Abstract

374,780. Safety-pins; dress pins. CARTIER SOC. ANON., 13, Rue de la Paix, Paris. Dec. 3, 1931, No. 33546. Convention date, Jan. 28. [Class 131.] A clip brooch of the kind comprising upper and lower jaws connected by a spring hinge so that it w i I remain in either the open or closed position, is constructed with the lower jaw in the form of one or more pins. Figs. 1 and 4 show an ornamented top member a furnished with spikes or the like b and co-operating with a lower jaw comprising a pair of pins c connected by a crossbar forming a hinge and also carrying a cam e acted on by the spring d. When fastening the brooch to the edge of a fabric, the pins act frictionally as a. clipping-jaw, but when fastening to the middle of a fabric the pins pierce the fabric before attaining the clipping position. The upper jaw may hold an article such as a watch, powder-box or the like. Both jaws may be curved to fit a rounded surface.
