[Class 18.] A case for storing and delivering circulars, booklets, cards, and similar small packets includes an inclined receptacle in which the packets are stored in a vertical position, means to prevent the packets falling out of the inclined receptacle, and a vertically moving reciprocal slide which moves one packet at a time past the retaining means and through a delivery slot in the case. A resilient plate 13 prevents the packets falling out of the inclined receptacle 8 and, to prevent them falling through the delivery slot 6, a roller or rollers on the end of a spring-pressed arm 11 or a curved or inclined plate faced with rubber, wood, &c. attached thereto is provided. The slide 17 is pulled down to deliver a packet by a knob &c. 18 and it is returned by a spring 19 ; and the slide engages the packets by a hook 20 adjustable to the thickness of the packets, or several hooks may be provided at various heights on the slide. The hook 20 may be carried by an arm or arms passing through and sliding in a block carried by the slide 17 &c. To allow for packets of various widths, one side of the receptacle 8 is separate and secured by adjustable brackets. The packets are pressed downwards by a sliding weighted plate 15 with adjustable hooked arms &c. extending over the sides of the receptacle 8, and a roller weight may help to keep the plate flat against the top packet. Packets could be delivered from both the front and back of the casing by providing a double set of delivery mechanism and a receptacle 8 of #-shape. The sides of the case are provided with panels 3 of transparent material, e.g. opal glass, for the display of advertisements which can be illuminated through apertures 24 in the case sides by electric lamps 23 at the top and bottom of the case, and the lamps may be connected to a flashing mechanism in the case. A bell 22 is sounded by a striker on the slide 17 each time a packet is delivered. According to the Provisional Specification, the apparatus could be operated by a lever or wheel, and the hook 20 may be vertically adjustable in a slot in the slide.
