Abstract

370,127. Bayonet - joint fastenings. GILES, V. H., 2, Cemetery Road, Upper Eastville, Bristol. Feb. 21, 1931, No. 5486. [Class 44.] A device for securing an electric lamp bulb in its holder comprises a conical spring c bearing at one end against the bulb fitting and at the other against a collar a provided with a pair of projections f adapted to enter the longitudinal portions of the bayonet slots g in the holder behind the studs on the lamp. When the lamp is rotated to fastened position the projections remain in the longitudinal portions of the slots and snap beyond the studs to prevent reverse rotation of the lamp. Ready access to the collar is prevented by a shroud n, and release is effected by an implement comprising a pair of hooked jaws adapted to engage over collar a and by means of which the collar may be moved to withdraw the projections from the slots against the action of the spring. A suitable implement is described having a screw bearing against the end of the bulb and serving to give the requisite endlong movement to the hooked jaws.
