Abstract

369,660. Directive wireless signalling. SALTO, S., 5, Via Venosta, Milan, Italy. Dec. 23, 1930, No. 38771. [Class 40 (v).] A circularly polarized beam is produced by an aerial arrangement comprising components excited in succession by a progressive wave in a circuit coupled to the aerial system. Eight aerials 8 .. 15, Fig. 2, are coupled inductively or capacitatively to a coil 17 of ring formation in which a complete progressive wave is generated by an oscillator 7, modulated by a microphone 16. To avoid transmission in a backward direction, a reflector system 8<1> . . 151 is provided at a distance not equal to “ of the wavelength away, and each component of which is excited in phase opposition to the corresponding component in the main aerial, by coupling it to a coil 18 connected to the coil 17. The number of aerials may be different from the number of reflectors and the latter may be replaced by a conducting plate and the reflector may be energized by induction only from the aerials system.
