Abstract

369,546. Light-sensitive cells. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Sept. 16, 1930, No. 27650. Convention date, Sept. 16, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v).] In a circuit employing selenium cells Z1, Z2, Fig. 2, in which only part of the cells Z2 is exposed to light variations, the load resistance in parallel with part of the cells is large compared with that of the cells in parallel. As shown, the cells are connected as a potentiometer in the grid circuit of an amplifying valve V. Alternatively the cells are mounted in two branches of a bridge circuit with a source of high potential across one diagonal and a relay or other indicating instrument of high internal resistance across the other diagonal, Fig. 3 (not shown). The cell may consist of two electrically separated layers a, c, one c of which is shielded from the light, and the separating material b has good heatconducting properties to enable the cell to be used in the above circuits to compensate the effect of temperature changes on the active part a a of the cell.
