Abstract

369,438. Electric clocks. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES), Ltd., S., Edgware Road, Cricklewood, and DORER, P. O., 36, Manor Lane, Lee, both in London. April 23, 1931, No. 12033. [Class 139.] In electric clocks driven directly by a synchronous motor a starting impulse is imparted to the motor when the hands are set. The motor spindle a geared to the hands carries a ratchet wheel c adapted to be engaged by a pawl f pivotally sprung to the end of a lever d pivoted at n. To set the hands, a spindle h is depressed, a toothed wheel thereon meshing with a wheel k geared to the hands which are set by rotation of the finger piece i. During depression of the spindle h, the conical portion m thereof rocks the lever d in opposition to the spring e, the pawl f passing idly over the teeth of wheel c. When released the spindle h is returned by a spring l, the pawl f striking a tooth of wheel c to start the motor.
