Abstract
369,227. Knitting-machines. BREWIN, W., (trading as BREWIN & CO., W.), Eastern Boulevard, Leicester. Dec. 16, 1930, No. 37915. [Class 74 (ii).] A circular machine of the kind having a trapper for eacl yarn feeder is provided witl trappers which are movable bodily, and with means operable when a feeder is moved selectively to an inoperative position to move the associated trapper to a posi tion for trapping thread. The in vention is de scribed in connec. tion with a smal diameter machine of the stationary needle cylinder type for making rib tops of children's stockings. The yarn trappers comprise a number of vertically disposed plates 25 pressed together by a common spring 26 and mounted upon a slidable member 23 so that the trappers can be moved across the needle circle. Each pair of the plates 25 constitutes a trapper for one of the yarns. A cam plate 33, movable vertically under pattern drum control, is provided for engaging a stepped element 32, to rotate a spindle 31 for moving the member 23 to bring any desired pair of trapping plates 25 into position to receive a withdrawn yarn. Apertures or spaces 25b are provided in the plates 25 to allow loose pieces of yarn to be cleared from the trappers. A cutting device common to all of the yarns may be provided.
