Abstract

369,015. Furnace grates. VESUVIO FEUERUNGSBAU GES., 26, Bauerstrasse, Munich, Germany. March 31, 1931, No. 9738. Convention date, March 31, 1930 [Class 51 (i).]. In a wide grate having alternate fixed and reciprocating bars 1, 2 the transverse beams 4 carrying the fixed bars 1 are supported intermediate their ends by inclined supports 5 fixed by shoes or brackets 6 to longitudinal beams 7, each of the supports 5 serving as a path for the rollers 3 of the frames 9 carrying the reciprocating bars 2. The space below the grate is subdivided longitudinally by the beams 7 and laterally by transverse partitions 12 so that the air supply to any part of the grate can be controlled. The supports 5 project upwards at an angle to the longitudinal beams 7 and are formed on their upper surfaces with guides for the rollers 3. The beams 7 are hollow and form air supply ducts, the air issuing through adjustable openings 8 in the sides of the beams. Fuel is supplied to the grate at 11 and ash discharged by a flap 13. The grate may incline downwardly towards the ash hopper 14.
