Abstract
368,131. Constructional ironwork ; models. MANUFAX, Ltd., 38, Felsham Road, Putney, and LINGWOOD, F. D., 70, The Lawn, Shepherd's Bush, both in London. April 29, 1931, No. 12651. [Class 20 (ii).] Light structural members are joined together by sheet-metal clips formed with off-set lugs adapted to be bent around portions of the members and secured thereto by means of impressions in the members, such impressions in each member projecting beyond the surface of the adjacent member, and being shaped to simulate rivet heads. The structural members are formed of laminated bent sheet metal, and the clips are disposed around their abutting portions. Various forms of joints are shown. In one, outstanding lugs C<1>, C<2>, Fig. 1, on opposite edges of a main sheet-metal blank are bent around the flanges of crossing I-section bars A, B, and impressions D are made in the bent-over flanges and the flanges of the bar, to secure the members together. In another form, the flanges of one of the section-bars are cut away so that the web protrudes between the flange of the other section bar, Fig. 3, and the clips are bent around the flanges of the bars, as at F<1>, F<2>, and secured by impressions D. For angle-members meeting end to flange, one of the clip portions H<5>, Fig. 5, is adapted to fold over upon the end of the other clip flange H4, which in part embraces the web B4 of one of the angle-sections. In another form, Fig. 9, an upstanding bar B9 meets the lower flange of an angle-section, and the clip is provided with a lug M<2> which folds over the lug M<1> on the bar, and a lug M4 over a lug M<3> on the section-bar. In yet another form, Fig. 10, the clip comprises three portions, two angleportions N, N<2> with embracing lugs N<1>, N3, and end portions underturned and clipped to the member All by a rectangular portion N<4> with its ends turned under the flanges of the portion N<4>.
