Abstract

367,941. Reducing the resistance of ships. MARCONNET, G., 12, Rue de l'Isly, Paris. Dec. 4, 1930, No. 36625. Convention date, Dec. 6, 1929. [Class 113 (i).] At the fore part of a ship a double walled hole is provided to the space between which gaseous fluid is introduced under pressure and the outer wall has a number of apertures the area of these increasing with their depth of immersion. The outer wall 1 may form part of the main hull the inner wall being spaced therefrom within the hull or the outer wall may be an outstanding sheet supported on the main hull. The exterior wall 1 has a number of holes 3 and they may vary in diameter from 4 to 6 millimetres and be spaced so that there are 250 holes per square metre. The pressure of the gaseous fluid is equal to the hydraulic pressure on the keel line.
