367,707. Airships. LUFTSCHIFFBAU ZEPPELIN GES., Friedrichshafen-on- Bodensee, Germany. July 21, 1931, No. 20796. Convention date, July '21, 1930. [Class 4.] An airship has its hull divided into a number of compartments with an upper and a lower chamber in each compartment, the upper chambers H being filled with a non-inflammable light gas such as helium and the lower chambers being charged with fuel gas and an inflammable light gas such as hydrogen in a predetermined sequence. The fuel gas chambers B are arranged in pairs with a hydrogen chamber W to the front and rear of each pair, or there may be pairs of hydrogen chambers separating adjacent pairs of fuel gas chambers. At the ends of the airship the hydrogen chambers may outnumber the fuel gas chambers. Blow-off valves U are provided in the hydrogen chambers, and valves V in the helium chambers enable the helium above a fuel gas chamber to expand into a chamber above a hydrogen chamber. The chambers may be formed as separate cells or by placing a partition across each compartment. " Blaugas " may be used as the fuel gas.
