Abstract

685,440. Tanks. MIDDLETON, J. H. D., and TURNER, Sir F. R. G. Sept. 27, 1945 [Aug. 31, 1944], No. 16627/44. Class 69 (i). To protect a fuel tank against fire caused by the impact of bullets, it is provided with a covering of sponge rubber or other non-brittle material containing cells or cavities filled with a combustioninhibiting gas. A covering 1 has two rows of cells 2 filled with sticks of solidified carbon dioxide and sealed with rubber strips 3,4. Specification 129,320, [Class 69 (i)], is referred to.
