367,454. Control of D.C. motors. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C., 65, Chancery Lane, London.-(Atlantic Refining Co. ; 260, South Broad Street, Philadelphia, U.S.A.) Nov. 22, 1930, No. 35255. [Class 38 (iii).] Varying electromotive force.-In a ship propulsion system in which generators G, G<1> are connected in series circuit with a motor or motors M and each generator is driven in common with an auxiliary generator E, E<1> by a prime mover D, D<1>, switches 1, 2 enable one or more auxiliary generators to be connected to auxiliary bus-bars AP or to exciter bus-bars EB. The fields of the generators may be connected to the bus-bars EB direct or in series with a common regulating resistance R by means of switches 4, 5 when switch 6 is closed. This last switch also connects the motor field to the bus-bars EB through an independent regulating resistance MR.
