Abstract
366,934. Separating gases by liquefaction. LEVIN, I. H., 425, Hastings Street, and GAS INDUSTRIES CO., 2813, Penn Avenue, both in Pittsburg, U.S.A. Nov. 8, 1930, No. 33719. [Class 8 (ii).] Air &c. is compressed by a pump 5 cooled in an exchanger 3 and expanded in an engine 13 ; leaving this engine uncondensed it is cooled by the separation products in a second exchanger 16 and passes, partly condensed, into the rectifier 17. At starting, the air &c. passes direct from the engine to the rectifier until the gases leaving the column are cold enough.
