Abstract

366,824. Mixing - apparatus ; shaft couplings. LANGSDORF, W., Gamage Building, Holborn, London. May 6, 1931, Nos. 13398 and 31259. [Class 86.] A paint &c. mixing-appliance comprises a hand or power operated shaft fitted with or geared to a flywheel and enclosed in a casing containing gearing of high transmission ratio for driving the mixing spindle, which is fitted with freely pivoted mixing vanes whereby the spindle may be passed through a small opening. The casing d is mounted on, or formed with, a bracket m, which may be fixed to a vertical or horizontal surface, and the driving shaft g drives the spindle c through multiplying gearing h, i, k, l. The flywheel e is mounted on the spindle and is formed with a socket for the end of the mixing spindle b, which is mounted in a ball bearing removably secured to the bracket. In a modification, the bearing is integral with the bracket and the mixing spindle is mounted in a coupling head r, Fig. 5, formed with a hinged piece s fitted with a stud x to engage a recess in the spindle band held in place by a sliding sleeve v.
