Abstract

Non-hygroscopic ammonium sulphate saltpetre is obtained by mixing the salt or a solution thereof with up to 20 per cent. of the total volume of calcium nitrate, and drying the mixture while stirring. The calcium nitrate may be added in the form of a strong or saturated solution, which may be atomized, to mixtures of suitably moved anhydrous or hydrated ammonium sulphate and saltpetre, the mixture being simultaneously heated, or dried immediately after. The components may also be mixed in the fused or in the solid state.ALSO:Non-hygroscopic ammonium sulphate is obtained by mixing the salt or a solution thereof with up to 20 per cent of the total volume of calcium nitrate and drying the mixture while stirring. The calcium nitrate may be added in the form of a strong or saturated solution, which may be atomized, to mixtures of suitably moved anhydrous or hydrated ammonium sulphate and saltpetre, the mixtures being simultaneously heated, or dried immediately after. The components may also be mixed in the fused or in the solid state.
