Abstract

The process of the parent Specification is applied to coils of artificial threads which have been obtained by means other than the box spinning process. The coils are deformed so that they are no longer annular in shape but so that practically all parts of the threads in the coils are accorded free opportunity to contract on drying without being subjected to undue tension. The coils may be obtained by winding on to a collapsable core and then removing the wound coils from the core. A flexible strip of permeable material may be applied to the outside of the core before winding the artificial silk thereon. The flexible strip is removed with the wound coil and remains inside the coil during the washing and other treatments and also during the deformation and drying.
