Convention date, Nov. 14,1929. [Class 135.] Lift valves ; locking-catches ; pressure-relieving devices for fluids. - A screw - down lift valve for use with fireextinguisher containers comprises a screw spindle 20 the threads 23 of which are of such a pitch and diameter as to be on the border line between self-locking and non- self-locking, locking means s being also provided, preferably in the form' of a removable forked and looped wire member 9, 10. The wire 10 passes through the hand-wheel 7 and a collar 5 adjustably secured to the valve casing and provides a resilient locking means. The valve moves between its extreme positions with a half turn of the screw. A safety vent passage 25 through the spindle is normally closed at its inner end by a safety disc 27 which ruptures with excess of fluid pressure ; the disc consists preferably of thin gauge copper plated thinly with gold.
