Abstract
364,776. Moving carriers. CROWTHER, H., Albion Works, Leeds Road, Huddersfield. Dec. 3, 1930, No. 36376. [Class 3 (i).] In storage apparatus for warp beams, and rollers &c. j, the beams are supported in carriers g on a pair of endless chains h passing over chain wheels on upper and lower shafts b, c supported by frame members a. The shaft b is connected by worm gearing m, n to a hollow shaft o, and this can be clutched at will to a driven shaft s by actuating a lever which moves a clutch member r<1> slidable on a key on the shaft s into gear with a clutch member r, whereby the chains are actuated to position them for the insertion or removal of a warp beam &c. A brake may be arranged to act on the clutch member r to hold the shaft s from rotation when necessary. Eyed carriers g, Fig. 4, are used on one chain and gapped carriers g, Fig. 1, on the other to facilitate insertion &c. of the beams, and screws k or hinged caps may be used to hold the beams in the gapped carriers. The chains may be tensioned by mounting the shaft c in slots a<2> and also by screws acting on the shaft c. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, a series of beam holders may be arranged in pairs, and be driven from a common shaft s and the chains in each pair may be moved in opposite directions by employing left- and right-hand worms n.
