Abstract

364,429. Roll-film spools. BAXENDEN, T. G., Lawrenny, Hempstead Road, Watford, and COLLYEAR, J. R., Leverno, Beechcroft Road, Bushey, both in Hertfordshire. March 14, 1931, No. 7896. [Class 98 (i).] A photographic film spool constructed wholly of metal and comprising a cylindrical barrel and end discs secured thereon, is characterized in that each of the end discs is secured in position on the barrel by means of a thimble or ferrule welded to the inner face of the end disc and forced on to the swaged down end of the barrel, the arrangement being such that the ferrule, and the end disc welded thereto, are securely held in position without any additional securing means. As shown, to the end disc 2 is welded a cylindrical thimble 4, the turned-in edges 7 of the key slot 6 in the end disc registering with the edges 8 of the slot in the thimble. The thimble is forced on to the swaged down end 9 of the tubular barrel 1. A solid spindle may be employed.
